Swarovski (2005)

This competition was launched by the British Costume Society to celebrate their 40th Anniversary and the main sponsor was Swarovski whose crystals were used for the designs. The project was one of the few collaborations between the Jewellery and Fashion Department, held in April and May 2005. The brief for the competition was Fusion between Jewellery and Garment, only condition given was the use of the colour red. My team partner was Jasmijn Schutten a Dutch womenswear student. Our main idea for jewellery, collars and oversized jackets was based on cube crystals. Our aim was to propose something different from the classic ball gown. Other sources of inspiration include kimono, biker jackets, fur collars, origami and braiding.
